History of Meadhaven
Built in 1851, this pre-Civil War era home has been passed down through generations of the Cox-Mead family. Inside of this architectural masterpiece, you will find pictures and items that tell the story of this charming southern home and its inhabitants.
On June 15, 1905, a train departed Knoxville with a total of 150 wedding guests. After a carriage ride from the train station to a small church where the Cox and Mead families became one, the guests were transported by carriage to Meadhaven. Filled with the beautiful sounds of the J. King Wooden Orchestra, the guests danced the night away. Over 100 years later, Meadhaven once again opened its doors for weddings and receptions of all who desire to take advantage of its charm.
